Tuesday Ten: Eco Friendly/Fair Trade Gift Ideas

Noonday Collection is a company that sells jewelry and accessories made by artisans around the world, they are a part of the fair trade federation. This pom wreath is the cutest. It is colorful and fun; it is a part of the Christmas collection, but a decoration that could be kept up all year round.

Dazey LA is an art apparel company with a mission to empower women through conversation and community. All of the clothing items are made to order in Los Angeles, California. The “Love More” tee is the first shirt I ordered from them and an absolute show stopper. Also, Dazey LA carries up to size 4X! Use code “karilane” for a discount on your purchase!

Swell is a company that was founded with the intention of ridding the world of single use plastic bottles. Swell partners with UNICEF to provide clean and safe water to the world’s most vulnerable communities. I love the peacock bottle because peacocks are one of my favorite animals. But in addition to the bottle being pretty, it also keeps your cold drinks cool for 24 hours and your hot drinks warm for 12 hours.

Reusable grocery bags are great, but what about what you put into the bags? This cotton market bag is great for bagging your fruits and vegetables. It is open weave, so you can see the barcode easily and checkout is not impeded.

Little Market was founded by Lauren Conrad and Hannah Skvarla after a trip they took to Bali and El Salvador. They saw the hardworking women and the beautiful products they were creating. So when they got home, they made it possible for their friends to purchase these items and benefit the women making the products, it eventually grew into the Little Market. The oversized market basket is great for any room. It work in a kid’s room for stuffed animal storage, a living room for blanket or pillow storage, or in an entry way for shoe storage.

This may not be your typical ‘gift’ but it is my favorite ice cream and would be happy to be gifted it at any time. It’s delicious and Jimmy Fallon donates 100% of his proceeds to SeriousFun Children’s Network!

GoBena is a local company (Gridley, Illinois!) that ethically sources coffee from Ethiopia, 100% of the net profit goes toward orphan care. I have had this coffee many times at local establishments and I have never been disappointed by it. It’s delicious, a bag or seven would make a great gift for the coffee lover in your life.

Ten Thousand Villages is one of the first fair trade stores, they revolutionized the industry by putting people and the planet first. Pizza is fun, so how you cut it should also be fun and this bicycle pizza cutter is so fun!

9. Something from a thrift store.

Shopping local and shopping secondhand reduce waste. There are plenty of gift worthy items available at your local thrift store, especially Christmas themed items. I bet you could find three new with tag Christmas towels at your local thrift store tomorrow.

10. Newspaper Gift Wrap.

Are presents in prettier packages more fun to open? No! Foil and glitter wrapping paper is non-recyclable. Reuse something you already have, like the newspaper and wrap your gifts in that. The comics are probably the best to use, but the articles can also be used. If the article is about something depressing, you can always color over the print!
