This Week I…

Watched- Joker and Playing with Fire in theaters, and FINALLY finished Gossip Girl on Netflix. I didn’t really want to see Joker at first, but then I was hearing good things online about it and decided to give it a try. It was not at all what I expected. It was very dark and really made me think. It, to me, showed how poorly we treat those with mental illness in our society. The movie was set in the 1970s and little has progressed since then. Playing with Fire was also not what I was expecting. I thought it was going to be super funny, which it was, but it was also really sweet. I took three of my nieces to see it and they each loved it too. They especially liked the little girl’s friendship with the big slobbery dog. I had been watching Gossip Girl for eight plus weeks and I FINALLY finished it this week! It was so good. There were so many twists and turns throughout the whole show, all the way up until and through the very last episode. I’m stoked for the reboot now that I have seen all of the original series.
Read- Choose Your Own Autobiography by Neil Patrick Harris. It is not your typical memoir, and I appreciate that. The story loses a little of the rhythm because it’s an audiobook rather than an actual paper book, but I love it on audio. I always like when the author reads their own book. This recording has sound effects and dramatic flair, it’s so good. NPH is also very candid about his life. He talks openly about discovering his sexuality and his first gay experiences. I applaud him.
Listened to- Scrubbing In Podcast with Becca Tilley and Tanya Rad. I heard of this podcast because they won a People’s Choice Award; I decided to give it a try this week. It was good! I’m not sure if it’s one that I will listen to every week because they are lengthy-er episodes; it took me three fragments to finish this one. On the episode I listened to, Brad Goreski and Gary Janetti were the guests. I have loved Brad since I first saw him on the Rachel Zoe Project, the docuseries on Bravo. Gary is his husband and a tv writer. Gary just wrote a book and I have it on hold at the library, I can’t wait for it to come in! Also on this episode, Tanya discussed her faith. I really appreciated this. Not too many people so openly discuss their faith without it being all they talk about. Tanya, to me, was very relatable because faith is a part of her life, but she also loves her some pop culture and feminism, and self care.
Celebrated- Disney+. Seriously, one of the greatest inventions. When I first logged in I spent a good hour going through some of the selections. About every other listing made me squeal. I was so excited to see all of my favorite Disney Channel classics (like Even Stevens, Lizzie McGuire, the Ruby Bridges Story, and Heavyweights) were available on this service. I can’t wait until the Lizzie McGuire reboot comes out.

Visited- a vintage and thrift store called Butter Twice and Again. I found a KILLER blue plaid fuzzy coat and a sweet basket handbag. I have followed the store on Instagram for a while and was happy to finally make it to the store in person this week.

Ate- cookies from a neighbor. They brought treats around to all their neighbors to celebrate World Kindness Day this week. Isn’t that the sweetest?!
Wore-all the cozies.
