This Week I…

Watched- The Challenge, the Bold Type, Anjelah Johnson: Not Fancy, Foster, and The Lost Tapes: Inside the Manson Cult. I LOVEEEEEEE the Challenge on MTV! I don’t watch a ton of shows on MTV anymore but I specifically tune into this one. The competitors are insane, the challenges are crazy (how do they come up with this stuff?!) and the locations are unreal. I want to be on the show so bad, but could I eat cow intestines? I don’t think so. The Bold Type on Freeform is quickly becoming one of my favorite shows. I love the open, honest, and up to date conversations they have on the show. I love the female empowerment and the fashion. I love that next season (season 4!) will be 18 episodes instead of ten like the last three were. Anjelah Johson: Not Fancy is a comedy special on Netflix. It was hilarious! I had seen the bit that she is famous for (the nail salon) before, but I didn’t realize that was her. The whole special is laugh out loud funny and exactly what I needed to break up some of the DRAMA that happened on other shows I watched this week. This week I also watched Foster, a documentary on Hulu. The documentary follows several different DCFS cases in Los Angeles County, California. I have wanted to become a foster parent since I knew what it was and this documentary just reinforced that. It tugged on my heart strings and I cried watching it. Truly the best thing that we can do for one another is love each other and show up for each other. I know in my heart that I will be a foster parent one day and I cannot wait for that day. Finally, this week I watched The Lost Tapes: Inside the Manson Cult, on Hulu. I have watched a lotttttt of shows about Charles Manson and the Family; this show did not have any new information necessarily but there was new footage of the Family, hence the “lost tapes”. It was very eerie to watch the members of the cult speak about killing so intensely but then in the same breath say it was all in love. This show is only available on Hulu until 9/17/19, so I would recommend watching it ASAP if you like true crime shows.
Read- Where’d You Go Bernadette? I started this book this week and so far I’m really into it. It seems like a quick read. So far the whole book has been in email/memo format, rather than a traditional narrative. I like that, it’s something different.

Listened to- Up First by NPR. This is a 10-15 minute daily podcast. I used to listen to it every single day, without fail, then I got away from it. I’m so glad I got back into this podcast this week. Because of the shortness of the podcast it’s great to listen to while you’re in the shower or getting ready for the day. It’s from NPR, so it’s pretty much unbiased, but still gives you all the facts of the craziness that is our political climate at this time.
Celebrated- Labor Day! Laborers are great and have done so much for our country. I’m glad we have a day off to celebrate them, especially if that means my nieces get to have a sleepover on a Sunday Night. I love having them over. We ate tons of ice cream, painted our nails, watched Netflix, and attended the Labor Day Parade.

Visited- memory lane. I am friends with a lot of my old teachers on Facebook and my school’s librarian posted some old photos this week. Our school had a circus! I was in it from 2nd grade- 8th grade.

Ate- the Impossible Burger from Burger King. It was good! In the past I had ordered veggie burgers from Burger King and they were delicious, but did not taste like a regular hamburger. The Impossible Burger is good and tastes like a regular hamburger!
Wore- fun hair accessories!
