This Week I…

Watched- A LOT! I watched Good Trouble on demand, Always Be My Maybe and Wine Country on Netflix, and saw Aladdin and Rocketman in theaters. Good Trouble is a spinoff of The Fosters. This series follows the two sisters, Callie and Mariana, as they navigate their new adult life in LA. I loved the Fosters. I loved the relationships between the family members and the multiple story lines. Good Trouble has a few story lines but not quite as many as The Fosters. Good Trouble also has a lot more sex in it than the Fosters. It was about half way through the first season before it seemed like there was more than just sex going on with the characters. I’ll probably continue watching the series, season 2 premieres next week, but I may have to wait until I can binge the whole season. Always Be My Maybe was a great rom com on Netflix. I love Ali Wong, her stand up is phenomenal. She was great in this movie. It’s one I’ll probably watch over and over again. Also, I wish the band in the movie were a real one. Wine Country is Amy Poehler’s directorial debut and it was great. It was hysterical and I hope my friends are like them when we get to be 50. This week I also saw Aladdin in theaters. Aladdin was one of my favorite Disney movies as a kid, so I had pretty high expectations. I really liked it! It was kind of weird to see Will Smith as the Genie, but I got used to it as the movie went on. I loved the actress who played Jasmine, she was amazing and the new songs that they added to the movie for her were fantastic. Rocketman was kind of what I was expecting but also nothing I was expecting. I was expecting the music to be great, obviously, and for the characters to break out in random song, which they did. But I was not expecting the tragic story that was Elton John’s childhood. I have no idea how he is alive right now. He used every drug and drank so much alcohol, it’s a miracle he’s alive. His family life was the most depressing thing to me though. I don’t understand abuse of any kind. His parents never accepted him for the amazing person that he is. The movie just made me want to go home and love on my people. Hug them, tell them I love them, and tell them how amazing they are. The fact that Elton John is as great of a person as he is today is truly incredible. Also, fashion ICON.

Read- The Sun is Also a Star on audiobook. I have listened to 3 of 8 CDs in the audiobook, but it’s already very different than the movie. The Natasha character in the book is much ruder than the one in the movie. Although I may just be biased because I love Yara Shahidi so much.

Listened to- The Lady Gang podcast. This week was one of their Lady Gang Quickie episodes. It was about the start of Lady Gang and how they didn’t really expect it to take off like it did. This episode was particularly interesting to me because I’m nosy af. Also, I should def be on a show like Lady Gang, so I need an agent and I need the HOOK UP!

Celebrated- myself. I used to be really self-conscious of my arms, but this week I had a whole pep talk with myself and said no more, and I wore a tank top out in public

Visited- the library. At a library program this week, two local authors did a presentation about a true crime case local to the area that they wrote a book on. The case is fascinating, but I wasn’t that thrilled with the presentation. The authors presented the case in a way that you could obviously tell whether they felt the defendants were innocent or not. I would rather have them present just the facts and I decide for myself whether I think they are innocent or guilty.

Ate- donuts! This past Friday was National Donut Day, so obviously I had to get some delicious donuts!

Wore- lots of orange and purple. It’s a fun combination of colors. It could be very summery or a good fall combo.
