This Week I…
Watched- A Star is Born Encore and Captain Marvel in theaters. I absolutely loved A Star is Born the first time in theaters, so I was so excited when I saw it was coming back to theaters for one week. There were a few scenes that were lengthened and one scene that was added. The scenes that were lengthened I could leave or take, but the scene that was added, I loved. This movie is just so incredible and watching it again in theaters made me so happy. When Ally first walks on stage, opens her arms, and belts “Shallow”, it made me tear up. That scene is literally a girl seeing her dreams come true. I cannot say enough good things about it and I will continue to listen to the soundtrack every day. This week I also saw Captain Marvel. I typically do not go to see superhero movies, especially on opening weekend, but I wanted to see this one because #girlpower. The movie started out on a good note when they gave a special thank you to Stan Lee. I loved that the Captain Marvel character was not sexualized at all, Brie Larson is incredibly beautiful, but that’s never what was discussed or focused on. Captain Marvel was a friend and a human. Spoiler (but maybe not, because I don’t know enough about the Marvel Universe to say for sure, maybe this is a known thing. Or maybe not): One thing that cracked me up in the movie was when the bad guys are calling Brie Larson’s character Vers and she says, “My name is CAROL.” Like, ok, you couldn’t think of a different name? Whenever someone says Carol I envision a middle aged woman.
Read- In Her Studio: Spaces and Stories of Creative Women, a new magazine I picked up at Sam’s Club. The cover drew me in because there was a woman painting on top of a pink and floral school bus. I love the look of the school bus. It’s major design inspo.
Listened to- an old episode of Sunday Today with Wille Geist, Bradley Cooper was the guest. Every time I hear the story of how A Star is Born was created, I fall in love with it more. I love that this was Bradley Cooper’s directoral debut. I love that he learned to play guitar and piano and sing for this movie. I love that he saw Lady Gaga sing La Vie en Rose at a benefit and that’s why it was put into the movie.
Celebrated- Ash Wednesday, International Women’s Day, and my sister, the bride.
Visited- the deli. I love the Chicken Cesar Salad from the Jewel-Osco deli. I was craving it so hardcore this week. I had to go to both Jewel-Osco’s in my town to find it, but it was 100% worth it.
Ate- Oreo’s! March 6 was National Oreo Day!
