This Week I…

Watched- Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez, Grace and Frankie, and The Goop Lab. The Aaron Hernandez story was one that I thought I knew about, but after watching Killer Inside I realized I knew nothing about it. All of it was so sad and just insane. If everyone in the world would just go home and love their family (like Mother Theresa said), it would change the world. The sixth season of Grace and Frankie came out recently, so I HAD to watch. I love this show, it’s hilarious. This season was more of the same, in a good way, more antics, more shenanigans, more laughter, more leaving us on a cliff hanger at the end of the season! Season five was supposed to be the last season and then it was announced that there would be a sixth season. I sure hope there will be a seventh season. I’ve never been a huge goop fan, but I’ve read articles and looked at the website a few times. However, when the Goop Lab premiered on Netflix, I KNEW I wanted to watch it. It was super interesting and informative, but one of my problems with Goop has always been how crazy expensive some of the items they recommend are and that was no different in the show. However, there was also some cheap, practical advice given. For example, the Ice Man said, “Wake up every morning and ask yourself: Are you happy? Are you strong? Are you healthy? If not then breathe motherfucker.” That’s stuck with me since I watched the show.

Read- Educated by Tara Westover. I am almost done with this audiobook and it’s been so good but so tough to swallow. It’s sad to hear the reality of Tara Westover’s childhood and sad to think that there are other people who have had similar childhood’s. It is comforting to know though that she made a good life for herself. I want to meet her now!

Listened to- lots of older episodes of Sophia Bush’s podcast “Work In Progress.” The podcast is so good but some of the episodes are pretty long, so I can’t get through two 2-3 hour long episodes each week. Because of this, I have been revisiting the older episodes. They are all so good, each one is insightful.

Celebrated- Valentine’s day, sort of. My niece and I made a paper link chain to start decorating for Valentine’s Day. I love that simple things like that are still exciting for me and her.

Visited- Chicago. My bestie and her family went to see Mean Girls the Musical and it was so good! I’m so thankful they invited me. We have loved Mean Girls since it came out and quote it all the time. There are some definite differences between the movie and the musical, but they are both written by Tina Fey, so all the differences make sense. Musicals, since on stage, can be slightly different each day and this rendition definitely took advantage of that and had current pop culture slide in there. Today, January 26, 2020, is the last day that it is in Chicago, but if it comes somewhere near by you, I would recommend going!

Ate- mini donuts from Krispy Kreme. They’re delicious and its totally acceptable to eat five of them; I mean they’re mini!

Wore- lots of pink!
