Every year for the past three years I have been taking my niece on a weekend trip. It’s so fun! But I have definitely overspent in the past. So this year I challenged myself to plan the whole trip for $550 or less.

Two Night Stay Holiday Inn Aurora North- Naperville: $330.27 (Booked on Expedia)

Day One-

Gasoline and Casey’s Pizza for Brunch: $27.75

SciTech Hands On Science Museum: $6 (Museums For All Discounted Rate)

The SciTech Museum was super neat. There were tons of exhibits and things to play with. My niece loved building a tall, tall building out of wooden blocks and making tornadoes. Her absolute favorite thing to do was ride the stationery bikes and see how much energy she could generate.

Souvenirs: $7.32

Pressed Pennies: $3.06

KFC Dinner: $14.40

Day Two- The Most Expensive Day-

Raging Waves Admission- $60.88

Raging Waves is the largest waterpark in Illinois, and you definitely feel it when you're walking around. I would recommend wearing water shoes while there. There are semi large distances between the slides and the ground was hot and rough. Also, check the website for deals before you go! I was able to get $4 off each of our admission fees because we brought food to donate to the local food bank. Any deal is worth taking advantage of because it is definitely a pricey-er experience.

Locker Rental: $10

Inner Tube Rental: $10

Dippin’ Dots and Water- $10.25

Popcorn and Drinks- $5.38

Souvenirs- $13.94

Foxi’s Ice Cream- $9.25

McDonald’s Dinner- $10.80

Day Three-

Blackberry Farm Admission- $18

Blackberry Farm was the best bargain of this trip by far. I paid $9 admission for each of us, it's only $6 for in area residents, and the admission fee covers everything there. There is so much to do! There is paddle boating, ziplining, wagon rides, train rides, a carousel, pony rides, and pioneer village demonstrations. I would recommend this place for sure.

Souvenirs- 13.86

Pressed Pennies- $2.04

Grand Total- $553.20

So I spent a little bit over my budget, but I think I did good overall. The trip was a blast and the memories we create on these trips are priceless.
