This Week I…
Watched- The Superbowl and the Miss Americana documentary on Netflix. I don’t really like football but I always watch the big game. I like the commercials, the half time show, and the drama of the game. My favorite commercial this year was the one featuring Lil Nas X and Sam Elliot. I liked the half time show; Shakira and JLo are super inspiring. I wish I worked out like them. This week I also watched Miss Americana, a documentary about Taylor Swift, on Netflix. I absolutely loved it. Taylor is a BADASS FEMINIST. Towards the end of the doc she said, “I want to wear glitter and stand up for the double standards that exist in our society. I want to wear pink and talk about politics.” I started tearing up when she said that. That is me. Just because we wear pretty clothes, doesn’t mean we are smart and capable. It actually makes us a more interesting, three dimensional human being. Plus, I love her music, so it was cool to see how she creates it.
Read- If I’m Being Honest by Emily Wibberley and Austin Siegemund-Broka. This book was in the Teen Zone at the library, which makes sense since it was about high school characters, but that didn’t stop me from enjoying it. The story was a modern day Taming of the Shrew. I really liked it. The characters were interesting and relatable. It was a quick read, I would recommend.
Listened to- the Finding Fred podcast. This is a short podcast series. It was very sweet. It made me miss Mister Rogers. We need more shows like his today.
Celebrated- Nancy Pelosi. The State of the Union was a trash fire, but Nancy Pelosi was the North Star. After the State of the Union, when she was asked why she ripped up the speech, she said, “It was the courteous thing to do.” I loved that.
Visited- Plato’s Closet. I found so many great things for such good deals. (Use code “Kari10” for a discount at Plato’s Closet Bloomington!)
Ate- Girl Scout cookies! My nieces started selling them and man oh man, they do not disappoint. (Hit me up if you need some! They can be ordered online through them too!)
Wore- lots of wintery pink
